I am currently based out of Pune where I am pursuing my MBA. Originally I am from Ghaziabad which is in North India and a developed residential and industrial area. The shift from there to Pune has been very exciting as this was my first time in Pune and lo and behold, I loved the city to its core.
Pune is approximately 250 kms away from Mumbai. Due to its proximity to other cities it has a tremendous advantage vis-a- vis over other cities. The city is also steeped into rich history and culture; it has been focal point of Marathas and been long overdrawn tradition in theatre. If you ask my favorite then it is the city and its space along with multiple places to eat out. But one thing about Pune which wins hands down is the weather, which is nothing but spectacular; as one stays longer one realize that it it has a moderate climate throughout and thus becomes a amazing habitat especially for those who have come from places which has extreme climates!
I call Pune a ‘walkable city’ as the climate is moderate I can go walking from SB Road to FC Road to JM Road depending upon what is interests you that day. I have explored the city with the most amazing people as I have travelled taking hitch hiking from one point to another and stopping at one shopping joint to another, with stories regarding how was the city in its heydays! I will agree with them but also confide into them that this city still has retained some of its old charishma if not all.
I have found the city very hospitable, fun filled and full of life. My mates should not be surprised if in coming time I make this my permanent abode.
As for the critics I will share this anecdote: “Once upon a time, there was this traveller who was entering a village and there was sitting an ascetic, the traveller asked ‘how is this city?’ the ascetic answered ‘how was the last city, you are coming from?’. He replied, ‘ohh! That city was inhabitable they had weird customs, food and drink and dress so awkardly, it was a hell!’, the ascetic had a smile on his face and said ‘this is also the same!’.
After some time another traveller arrived and asked ‘how is this village?’ ascetic asked the same question to him. He replied,’it was a lovely place to stay and some of best people I have ever met. They gave me so much love that I am overwhelmed. The ascetic has a smile on his face and said, ’you will find the similar people here’. And as they say rest is history and my love with the city continues.
